Utah Fund of Funds
As UTC’s #1 Priority, UTC championed and passed this important piece of legislation (2003 Utah House Bill 240 "Venture Capital Enhancement Act") changing the capital structure of the state. UTC recently increased the fund to $300M (2009 Utah Senate Bill 160 "Utah Venture Capital Enchancement Act Amendments).
The Utah Fund of Funds is a $300 million State of Utah Economic Development program aimed at providing access to alternative or non-traditional capital to Utah entrepreneurs.
USTAR
UTC played a key role in passing the creation of USTAR (2006 with the Salt Lake Chamber and EDCUtah) and has helped achieve funding for this important program.
Engineering Initiative
UTC passed the Engineering Initiative (2001) and has been instrumental in significantly increasing the number of engineering graduates to fuel Utah’s high growth companies.
Increased High School Rigor
UTC was the only organization to support this critical change (2006) which better prepares all high school students with additional core requirements. After six years of considering this change, the State Board of Education passed it unanimously. UTC’s #1 issue is Quality Workforce/K-16 education
