Herbert announces Talent Ready Utah grant program & executive board

Gov. Gary R. Herbert has announced Talent Ready Utah’s first steps in working toward his goal of filling 40,000 new high-skill, high-paying jobs in Utah over the next four years. Brad Baird, EDCUtah’s ‘loaned executive,’ to retire

Vivint Solar extends aggregation credit facility

Vivint Solar, Inc.announced that it has extended the term of the availability period for borrowing under its aggregation credit facility by an additional three years to March 2020 and the final maturity of the facility to September 2020. Top 20 startups announced in the 2017 Utah Entrepreneur Challenge

Utah’s best college entrepreneurs are competing for $100,000 in cash and prizes, including a $40,000 grand prize, in the 2017 Utah Entrepreneur Challenge, one of the biggest student business competitions in the country. The competition got a lot more interesting with the top 20 teams being announced. Venafi research: Twenty-one percent of websites are still using insecure SHA-1 certificates and putting users at risk

New research from Venafi Labs shows that 21 percent of the world’s websites are still using certificates signed with the vulnerable Secure Hash Algorithm, SHA-1. On February 23, 2017, Google affiliated security researchers announced they cracked the SHA-1 security standard using a collision attack. The incident proved that the deprecated cryptographic secure hash algorithm still used to sign many website digital certificates can be manipulated. Newly issued certificates using the SHA-2 family of hash functions solve these problems, but Venafi Labs’ research shows that many companies have not replaced all their certificates with ones signed by SHA-2.
